Vineyard Trellis Calculation Formula
To calculate the vineyard trellis using this method, you’ll need to take into account the desired vine spacing, the distance between the end posts, and the desired height of the cordon wire.
Once you have these measurements, you can use a simple formula to determine the number of intermediate posts you’ll need and the distance between them.
The formula is:
Number of intermediate posts = (distance between end posts/vine spacing) – 1
Distance between intermediate posts = distance between end posts/number of intermediate posts
For example, if you have a distance of 100 feet between the end posts and a desired vine spacing of 8 feet, you would need 11 intermediate posts [(100 / 8) – 1 = 11].
The distance between each intermediate post would be 9.09 feet (100 / 11 = 9.09).
